SimplyNano 2 project in eastern Switzerland (SG, AI, AR)
In the canton of St. Gallen, all secondary schools were equipped with 540 SimplyNano 2 cases. In parallel, eight physical continuing education courses and several online courses were held. Teachers from all three cantons participated. The SimplyNano 2 project is being carried out as part of the IT education offensive in collaboration with companies in eastern Switzerland, foundations and the canton of St. Gallen. SimplyNano 2 promotes learners' interest in the subjects of mathematics, computer science, nature and technology (STEM subjects). The aim is to get young people interested in scientific and technical careers and to make an effective contribution to combating the shortage of skilled workers while they are still at school.
Thanks to the participation of two foundations from the Appenzell region, upper secondary schools in the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden and Ausserrhoden were also able to benefit from a contingent of experimental kits. The Appenzell teachers were also able to participate in the continuing education courses.
Between August and October, seven continuing education courses for teachers were held. Teachers from 56 different schools participated. The training courses after the summer vacations took place at schools or at regional partner companies. The teachers gained an exciting insight into the companies and had the opportunity to get in touch with trainers.
The SimplyNano 2 project in eastern Switzerland has thus been successfully completed.
