Successful nano course at Leister AG

Teachers from Obwalden, Zug and Lucerne were impressed by the SimplyNano experiment kits. They received an introductory course on the “SimplyNano 2” learning media. As guests at the Leister company in Kägiswil, they took away useful input for the classroom as well as exciting information on technical apprenticeships.

Diaper experiments at Novartis

With the SimplyNano-2 learning medium, young people can discover the world of nanotechnology through exciting experiments. At the training course in Rotkreuz, Zug teachers learned why, for example, a diaper is in the experiment kit. Cantonal Councillor Stephan Schleiss also took an interest in the experiments, emphasizing the importance of the project and praising the cases as a valuable tool for getting young people interested in STEM professions.

Nidwalden becomes a SimplyNano canton

The successful STEM education project “SimplyNano 2” is making its way to the canton of Nidwalden, which is introducing the innovative learning medium. All secondary schools in Nidwalden and the Kanti have been equipped with class sets of the experiment kits. The teachers completed an introductory course at Frey Stans – and did so with great enthusiasm!

Enthusiastic teachers at Geistlich

As part of the “SimplyNano Project Central Switzerland”, a SimplyNano 2 experimentation course was held at the Geistlich Pharma site in Root on October 30, 2024. 17 teachers were inspired by the SimplyNano experiments. While experimenting independently, they were given lots of ideas on how to inspire their pupils to learn through research.

Uri is the twelfth “SimplyNano 2” canton

Schools in Uri are now experimenting with nanotechnology. Ninety “SimplyNano 2” experiment kits were made available to the secondary schools. High-tech experiments are designed to get young people interested in technical professions. At the nano-experimentation course, the Director of Education of Uri was also inspired by the “Nanos”.

60 experiment kits for all Glarus schools

The SimplyNano project for Central Switzerland was launched on April 24, 2024 at Grünenthal in Mitlödi (Glarus South) with an all-round successful training course. Teachers from all Glarus secondary schools received an introduction to SimplyNano2 learning media. They had the opportunity to carry out the nano experiments independently. The event was rounded off by an exciting exchange with the vocational training managers from Grünenthal.

Start of the “SimplyNano 2” project in Central Switzerland

The “SimplyNano 2” nanotechnology experiment kit is an interdisciplinary learning medium for STEM subjects in secondary schools. As part of the new project in Central Switzerland, secondary schools and secondary grammar schools in the cantons of Lucerne, Zug, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Uri and Glarus will be equipped with class sets of free SimplyNano 2 experiment kits and learning materials from spring 2024. The aim is to get students interested in scientific subjects and technical professions. The project is supported by more than 40 project partners and is therefore running across the board in 16 cantons!

Worlddidac Award for “SimplyNano”

Great honor for the “SimplyNano 2®” project. The nanotechnology experiment kit for secondary schools wins the prestigious Worlddidac Award 2023. The educational project was awarded the coveted prize for teaching materials at the Swissdidac & Worlddidac trade fair in Bern. After the “Building Award 2021”, this is already the second award for “SimplyNano”.

Successful project completion in the canton of Thurgau

The SimplyNano project in the canton of Thurgau was successfully completed in August 2023. As part of the project, 35 schools were equipped with 400 experimental kits. Continuing education courses were held at four attractive company locations, during which 50 teachers were trained. The teachers’ feedback on the project was extremely positive. Upper schools in the canton of Schwyz receive 200 experimental kits

With the introduction of the SimplyNano 2 learning medium in the canton of Schwyz, a further step was taken to bring the SimplyNano 2 experimental cases and the learning workshop into the schools. The canton of Schwyz is now the tenth canton in Switzerland in which the learning medium is used across the board. The project was successfully completed in August. Companies are looking for apprentices by means of nanotechnology

They are new ways to recruit apprentices and get students interested in science: Biotech and food companies or pharmaceutical and chemical companies have developed a new learning kit that opens up the world of nanotechnology to secondary and high school students. The case contains 37 science experiments, a teacher’s guide, and student instructions for independent experimentation at three different levels of difficulty. Experiments are carried out in pairs or threes.

A case against the shortage of skilled workers

Since last year, 880 experimental kits have been in use at schools in both Basel and Solothurn. With these so-called Simply Nano2 cases, young people can carry out various experiments in the field of nanoscience in their classes.Behind the project are companies, associations and foundations that are committed to promoting science education. Young people should take more pleasure in so-called MINT subjects and, if necessary, enter a scientific profession later on.

Chips from Bischofszell

Recently, an advanced training course on the SimplyNano 2 – experimental cases was held at the FFB-Group at the company headquarters in Bischofszell. 16 teachers from various secondary schools in Thurgau received an introduction to the use of the SimplyNano 2 learning medium in NT / MINT lessons and also received valuable information about the food manufacturer’s teaching professions.

VERWO AG in Reichenburg hosted the third SimplyNano training course in the canton of Schwyz. Secondary teachers received an introduction to the SimplyNano 2 learning media and were able to try out the experiments contained in the experiment kit on their own. In VERWO AG’s modern apprentice workshop, the participants also learned many exciting things about the various apprenticeships offered by the Reichenburg-based industrial company.

Up high with a pioneering spirit Nano experiments at Garaventa

Exciting and practical experiments are designed to get young people excited about science and technology. For this purpose, all secondary schools in the canton of Schwyz will receive a total of 200 SimplyNano 2 experiment kits as part of the SimplyNano project. An introductory course for the teachers was recently held at Garaventa AG in Goldau. The participants were able to try out the experiments contained in the suitcase on their own and also received exciting information about the career options offered by the internationally active ropeway manufacturer.

Cool Nano Experiments for Thurgau Schools Teachers Experiment at Baumer

Since spring 2023, all secondary schools in the canton of Thurgau have been provided with free “SimplyNano 2” experiment kits. Exciting experiments on nanotechnology are designed to get young people excited about nature and technology. The promotion of young people in technical professions is also close to the heart of the Baumer company. A SimplyNano training course for teachers was recently held at the Baumer Group headquarters in Frauenfeld. Secondary teachers were able to get to know the SimplyNano experiment kits. They also received valuable information about the Baumer Group’s apprenticeship programs, including electronics technician, computer scientist specializing in platform development, polymechanic and design engineer.

Model supports “SimplyNano 2 – Project

As part of the SimplyNano 2 project Thurgau, an advanced training course for secondary school teachers took place on May 10, 2023 at the company Model, Weinfelden. Teachers received an introduction to the SimplyNano2 learning media and had the opportunity to conduct nano experiments on their own. On an impressive tour through the production halls of Model AG, the participants learned many exciting facts about paper and board production. There was also a stimulating exchange about the various apprenticeships at Model AG.

“Small meets big” SimplyNano as a guest at Stadler Rail

The first of four SimplyNano 2 training courses for secondary school teachers in Thurgau was held on the large premises of Stadler Rail AG in Bussnang. Exciting contrasts of dimensions were palpable. After a tour gave the participants impressions of the oversized dimension of train construction, they then immersed themselves in the tiny world of nanomaterials. Through practical tips and independent experimentation, the teachers were able to prepare themselves for the use of the SimplyNano 2 experimentation kits in STEM / NT lessons. Starting in spring 2023, a total of 400 “SimplyNano 2” experiment kits will be made available free of charge to all secondary schools in the canton of Thurgau.

On the “knife’s nano-edge” Teachers experiment at Victorinox

Starting in spring 2023, all secondary schools in the canton of Schwyz will be provided with free “SimplyNano 2” experiment kits. Exciting experiments on nanotechnology are designed to get young people excited about nature and technology as well as the corresponding professions. The first continuing education course for teachers was recently held at Victorinox AG in Schwyz/Ibach. During a tour of the apprentice workshop, the teachers were given an insight into the various apprenticeship professions at Victorinox AG.

The “SimplyNano 2” experimental kits on nanotechnology are a new learning medium for upper grades. All Schwyz secondary schools will receive 200 free cases this spring. The aim is to get young people interested in technical professions. Schwyz is the first canton in central Switzerland where all schools are equipped. The project is funded by the Asuera and Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundations. Three companies support the project by hosting courses.

400 nano experiment kits for all Thurgau schools

The “SimplyNano 2” experimental kits on nanotechnology are a new learning medium for upper grades. Starting in May, 400 free suitcases will be available for Thurgau’s secondary schools. Experimenting in the Novartis Pavilion

As part of the SimplyNano Project: Northwestern Switzerland, a SimplyNano 2 experimental course was held at the Novartis Pavilion on February 8, 2023. 17 teachers received an introduction to the SimplyNano2 learning media and had the opportunity to conduct nano experiments on their own. By means of an interactive career presentation, the participants gained insights into the career opportunities at Novartis AG and ideas for possible school class visits to the Novartis Pavilion in Basel.

Teachers experiment at BASF

A SimplyNano experimental course was recently held at the headquarters of BASF Schweiz AG in Basel. This gave 16 secondary school teachers the opportunity to carry out nano experiments and gain insight into the teaching professions at BASF. The course is part of the SimplyNano project, which aims to get high school youth excited about STEM subjects and technical careers. BASF in Switzerland supports the innovative Swiss education project as a partner.

“SimplyNano” wins Building Award 2021

The SimplyNano project wins the Building Award 2021 in the category of promoting young talent in the field of technology. The award recognizes outstanding achievements by engineers in construction. The award ceremony took place on November 2, 2021, during a celebration at the KKL Luzern. Around 600 guests were guided through the evening by journalist, presenter and former Miss Switzerland Christa Rigozzi.

SimplyNano 2: In use in all schools in four cantons

The shortage of skilled workers in technical professions is increasing throughout Switzerland. The canton of St.Gallen is taking countermeasures – among other things with the IT education offensive and its sub-project “SimplyNano 2”. Last year, the upper secondary schools in St.Gallen and Appenzell were equipped with a total of 600 experimental kits. The suitcases are designed to get young people excited about STEM subjects and technology careers with exciting nano-experiments and hands-on technology applications.

Nano-Experiment Kit for Secondary Schools in Northwestern Switzerland

In Northwestern Switzerland, high school classes will experiment with nanotechnology in the future. Class sets of “SimplyNano 2” experimental kits will be provided to secondary schools. The aim is to get young people interested in science and technology and to help combat the shortage of skilled workers. The project is thus already running in eight cantons and is to be implemented in schools throughout Switzerland by 2025.
