Thurgau companies host the continuing education courses
After 4 well-attended training courses and the dispatch of the SimplyNano 2 experimental kits to 35 secondary schools, the SimplyNano project in the canton of Thurgau came to a successful conclusion. The schools each received class sets of 10 – 14 suitcases. The roll-out is now complete and Thurgau’s secondary school students can start “nano-experimenting”.
The project started in May 2023 with the first course at Stadler Rail AG in Bussnang. Further courses at the Model Group in Weinfelden, the Baumer Group in Frauenfeld and the FFB Group (BINA) in Bischofszell gave teachers an exciting insight into regional technology companies. The feedback from the participants shows that the implementation at the companies and the associated contacts were very much appreciated. The courses each began with a brief introduction of the host company. In particular, the information on career opportunities for apprentices provided by the various company representatives was found to be very valuable by the course participants.
Support from lottery funds and broad alliance of business partners
In the continuing education courses, the SimplyNano 2 experimental kits and the learning workshop were presented and the teachers were able to carry out a large part of the experiments independently. Feedback from teachers on the professional development courses and the project was very positive. Particularly appreciated were the practical experiments and the materials and documents that could be used “ready to use” in the classroom.
The project was financed by the Lottery Fund of the Canton of Thurgau and a broad sponsorship of a total of 21 companies, foundations and associations. Thanks to the financial support of the partners, it was possible to offer all the experimental kits and also the further training courses for the teachers free of charge.
