Encouraging enthusiasm for technology with exciting experiments

Getting young people excited about scientific and technical topics was the common goal of this continuing education course. The teachers were able to carry out the individual experiments of the SimplyNano 2 experiment kit independently in a post run and immerse themselves in nanotechnology in a playful way. The participants were fascinated. Experiments related to everyday life were carried out with enthusiasm. The superhydrophobic aerogel encouraged juggling a drop of water from hand to hand. Joy reigned when this was also possible with ketchup or honey. Equally fascinated, the participants investigated the memory effect of a Nitinol paper clip or how a smoke detector works. The secondary teachers were pleased to receive the materials and documentation free of charge. They are sure that using SimplyNano 2 experiments in NT lessons will awaken interest in technical topics among young people.

Live in production with HoloLens glasses

As the host company, the FFB Group provided exciting information about career opportunities in the scientific and technical field. HoloLens glasses were used to provide an interactive insight into potato chip production. The participants had the impression that they were moving live in the production halls. “We’re making everything out of the potato that we can,” said Daniele Santi, vocational education manager. A total of 58 apprentices are trained in 10 different professions at the Bischofszell site. The FFB Group attaches great importance to the promotion of the next generation of specialists, and so an exciting exchange took place with the teachers. With this fourth training course in Bischofszell, the SimplyNano 2 project in the canton of Thurgau was successfully completed. Following the course, the teachers were each able to receive a class set of SimplyNano 2 experiment kits for their school.
